Scalextric have released details of two Limited Edition cars exclusive to the USA to be produced in 2014.

The #12 Lotus 49B sporting Gold Leaf livery and the high rear wing had a guest driver when Mario Andretti joined Team Lotus in the third car entered in the 1968 USGP at Watkins Glen. Andretti took pole position on the second day of qualifying, 0.07 seconds ahead of Jackie Stewart. This was Andretti's first ever Formula One Grand Prix and his first time driving at Watkins Glen.

The second USA special edition is the #2 Shelby Trans-Am Boss 302 Mustang in "Mustang Clubs" livery that was driven in the 1969 SCCA Trans Am series by Dan Gurney at Pacific Raceways International (Australian Horst Kwech at other events). This model is similar to the #1 Peter Revson limited edition Mustang of a few years ago that is very much sought after by collectors. We assume this will have the new DPR chassis but do not yet have confirmation.

Probably the biggest news from Avant is the "Avant Cars" line of resin-cast high detail slot models with a limited production of no more than 500 units each.

In the Avant Cars line, a series of F1 models are planned, starting with the 2012 HRT-Cosworth F112, the 1993 McLaren-Ford MP4/8 and the 1987 Williams-Honda FW11.

In the standard Avant Slot line, the most interesting all new car would be the Jaguar XJ-220 shown above in the Martini and Rossi livery.

No release dates or prices have been given at this time.

Catalog number 30665/27446 - Carrera 1/32 scale "LaFerrari".
Announced in 2013, stocks expected to arrive in North America February 2014.

Dates for the second American Raceways Slot Racing Series have been released for the 2014-15 season.

The mini-series for retro cars proved very popular last season, as the races were contested on original tracks constructed by American Raceways, the leading builder of slot car tracks during the boom years of the 1960s.
"The three tracks that the races are run on are approximately 46 years old," said series organizer Ron Hershman. "It is our way of preserving history and saluting the era in which slot car racing was one of the most popular hobbies in the nation."
The series will kick off at Fastraxxx Raceway in Fremont, Ohio on Nov. 15 with an event on its 95 foot American Black Royal. Fastraxxx is truly unique in the fact that the track has not been redecked, and the racing takes place on the original repainted particle board surface.
Route 93 Raceway in Akron, Ohio will be the second series stop on Feb. 7 when it hosts action on its 155 foot American Blue King track, which is considered by many experts to be the most popular track design offered by American Raceways.
The series finale will be held at Thazer Raceway in South Bend, Indiana on April 25 on its demanding 135 foot American Hill Climb design, which features the original 'cross over' sections.
Racing will be held for the Formula One/Indy, Can-Am and Group 7-68 retro classes, using IRRA LLC rules, procedures, and bylaws.
Defending champions in the inaugural 2013-2014 American Raceways Slot Racing Series were: Willy Custer (Formula One/Indy) and Cap Henry (Can-Am).

Southern California Retro Racing Association and Buena Park Raceway present...

Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, 2014, to make sure you are there for the Now it is just "The 'Pete' " race.

The festival will feature as much punching it down the chute as the Buena Park Raceway 155' King Track can accommodate! The Blue King track is definitely the place to have this race, with speed in mind!

Buena Park Raceway will open its doors at 7 AM Saturday for the Can-Am cars. Tech will start at 9 AM and we will run until we're done.

There will be a lunch break both days and race prizes will be distributed several times during the event, with some of the race prizes being awarded on Saturday.

Buena Park Raceway will open its doors at 8 AM on Sunday and RetroPro tech will start at 10 AM, with the race to follow. The Formula One cars will then tech and race, and we will again run until we are done!

TSRD3 and Falcon 7 motors will be the motors for Can-Am and Formula One cars. This race will NOT have hand-out motors.

We will run this event like Pete would have wanted, a little ragged on the edges, but with the right mindset. This invitation cannot be passed up. Lets make it a festival!

Be there!
