Custom Akrapovic BMW M5 Is Ready for the 2014 goldRush Rally [Photo Gallery]

In just five years, the goldRush Rally managed to become a phenomenon so well known that people around the world are fighting to sign up for it, some of them preparing their rides months ahead of the actual kick-off.

One of them resides in Abu Dhabi and decided to get himself a special, one-off livery for his car, one that compliments a certain manufacturer. We’ll let you guess which one. Got it?

Needless to say that the LCI M5 is now sporting a new Akrapovic Titanium Evolution exhaust system with carbon fibre tips that not only changes the sound of the 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine but also adds a bit of power and torque to the already impressive numbers posted by BMW.

With the new exhaust in place, the Bimmer makes 572 HP and 740 Nm (545 lb-ft) of torque while also saving around 10.5 kilograms (23.1 lbs) of weight. Add a sharper throttle response to the mix and you’ll be surprised of how much of a difference can such a minor detail make.

The car also received new, golden wheels, to match the gold detailing on the body and yellow headlights that are real head-turners. Not because we like them but because you’ll be wondering if they’re for real.

Overall, you cannot call this car anything else but ‘special’. Why would someone do such a thing to his ride is beyond us but you should never underestimate the passion some people have for certain brands.

The 2014 goldRush Rally will kick off on May 31st in Las Vegas, Nevada and will take the racers all the way to New York, across the United States. The course includes pit-stops in Park City, Utah, Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington DC and, eventually, New York, NY on June 7th.

New 2015 Mazda MX-5 to Become Custom Retro Sports Car by Huet Brothers

The idea of a retro-styled sports car that would use the Mazda MX-5 as a platform sounds delicious. This is what we were expecting to receive from Dutch company Huet Brothers, who has announced their development would hit the market this year. Nonetheless, since Mazda showed the chassis of the next-generation MX-5 in New York, Huet Brothers now wants to wait and use the new model as a donor car.

Paul Huet, a company co-founder, recently spoke to Autovisie, explaining that they’ll have to postpone the development until Mazda releases the new MX-5. By the way, this is expected to happen by the end of the current year. Despite this, the car keeps its simple designation - Huet Brothers Coupe.

There’s also a second reason for the postponing, as the company wants to wait for more orders to be received. Currentlly, 21 people are ready to spend their money on one of these resculpted Miatas, but the carmaker apparently needs at least 40 orders in order to start production. However, 120 people have expressed their interest ever since Huet Brothers showed the Coupe Concept (pictured above) back in 2012.

Speaking of the 2015 MX-5, the new platform is about to bring a set of changes that have “major” written all over them. We still don’t know what the gains will be in terms of torsional rigidity, but Mazda has disclosed there will be a 220 lbs (100 kg) weight loss. The Huet Brothers Coupe should place a carbon fiber body on top of that architecture, so, according to the Dutch, it should tip the scales at 1,800 lbs (816 kg).

In fact, there will be three flavors to this project. It all starts with the Coupe, which mixes the classy styling with all the features offered by a modern car. This will also share its four-cylinder engine with the MX-5.

For those seeking extra thrills, Huet Brothers wants to build a track version, which will be known as the Coupe Race. There will also be a third model. Dubbed Coupe Road Racer, this will try to offer the best of both worlds.

Aston Martin DB9 Custom Interior Is Worthy of James Bond [Video]

Like sportscars, crime-fighting gentlemen aren't made the way they used to. Batman used to be able to defeat the Penguin using his wit, experience and a gentle slap on the back of the head, but now, he's gone all Hollywood on us – guns, kevlar and NASA computer hacking skills. In our book, James Bond and his Astons suffer from the same problems!

Just take the new Vanquish, for example. That car is as modern as a zinc kitchen table and packed with more tech than the Apollo moon lander. And yet it will never be as iconic as the classic DB5, not when football players are the main customers.

A Polish car interior customizer called Carlex Design changed all that today, with a back-the-beginning redesign of the DB9. It's just the sort of project that convinces you wool sweaters and tweed jackets are way cooler than body armor.

Now working for Her Majesty’s Secret Service, the Aston Martin sports GT combines two dark tones of gray with very subtle gold accents. Alcantara is also used, along with a gray leather color borrowed from Porsche catalogues. Everything is tied together nicely with different patterns of gold thread, like a tailored suit made specifically to accommodate 007 – very sharp, but also comfortable.

The British have begun developing a brand new DB9, which might have engines from Mercedes AMG. But it's safe to say this old boy won't be retired from service any time soon!

Who Said Custom Toyota Prii Suck? [Video]

Well, as long as you follow what we said in the how not to customize your ride tutorial earlier, why not giving your hybrid a little glam? It wasn’t designed for speed or pulling Gs in the corners, so at least you can leave people speechless with its looks.

Mainly, that’s Japan’s idea of how you can look cool in a ride that has to stick to a 50 km/h (31 mph) speed limit all the time, even on their highways. If they can’t impress by speed, they will by crazy designs.

Bodykits, big shiny rims, lowered suspension or even an adjustable air one, different lamps, LEDs, carbon fiber elements and an interior stuffed with tech will surely make your Prius look like a street god while slowly crawling through rush hour traffic.

If you think a bit, a custom flashy-looking hybrid is not that far from those American land-yachts of the ‘60s, like the Cadillac Eldorado if you wish. It was ginormous, had a lot of chrome, an overall rocket shape if you looked from the side, including the rear fins, it was heavy and was basically a barge that needed like 5 days to hit its top speed.

Almost the same thing can be said with a custom alien-looking Toyota Prius now. It looks cooler than the standard car, it goes slow and, unlike the land-yacht, it also sips fuel. There you go - the Eldorado of the tech age.

We’re not entirely sure if that rollcage and racing gear has a purpose on it, but we’d surely like to see more of these instead those idiotic donks or old Honda’s with no muffler, rear wing and crap foam-made bodykits.
