Two McLaren P1s For Sale in The Netherlands

As usual with supercars and hypercars that come in limited numbers, you can always find new examples at brave dealerships across the world even after the producer makes the “sold out” announcement. The time has now come for the McLaren P1 to go down this road, with not one, but two units of the hypercar showing up for sale the Netherlands.

Let’s get things straight from the very beginning - both examples of the P1 are brand new, so you don’t have to worry about any previous hooning adventures. You can choose between two visual flavors - the first P1 is dressed in Supernova Silver Metallic, while the second comes in Pearl White Metallic.

Captain Obvious would tell you that with such cars, the options make all the difference in the world. Alas, the Dutch dealership does not offer such details.

What the company does say though, is that if you want to make one of these British rockets yours, you should be ready to spend EUR 1.8 million (US$ 2470500 at the current exchange rate). As you could expect, the dealer isn’t exactly making an effort to help petrolheads find their dream - the aforementioned price is considerably higher than the official price tag of the P1. This will not be too much of an issue for those in the market for a P1, so here is the link to the ads.

We have to explain that the McLaren P1 is a bit late to this “used car market” party. That’s because its rival, the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder have both played this game earlier this year.

McLaren P1 Taken to 205 MPH at Vmax [Video]

Most supercars and of course their rarer brothers, the hypercars, have top speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour (322 km/h). Now, that's great for publicity and sales, but there aren't a lot of places in the world where you can achieve that sort of speed, legally or illegally.

If you're in Britain, a good place to start is the Vmax race, held on an empty stretch of airfield that's long enough to reach the 200 mph market. Fresh off McLaren's assembly line, this P1 owner decided to take his car to 205 mph (330 km/h) during a high-speed drag strip run.

The P1 is going up against a Litchfield LM850 Nissan GT-R, packing nearly as much power as the McLaren. The speed achieved at Vmax comes tantalizingly close to the official numbers claimed by McLaren: 217 mph or 350 km/h.

The reason for this amazing level of performance is a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine and an electric motor that give a combined output of 916PS (903 bhp) and a maximum torque figure of 900Nm. Now, that's not as much as a Bugatti, but this is a much lighter, more nimble car.

Taking a Bugatti Veyron to the ragged edge is actually quite boring. But the P1 pitches, shakes and judders – it feels dangerous. The British hypercar is almost like a watered down version of a race car, not quite as violent as the old F1, but not as refined as the MP4-12C.

Jay Leno Puts Lots of Miles on McLaren P1: I've Never Seen a Car That Stops Like This

American television celebrity/comedian Jay Leno presents his brand new McLaren P1 in the latest episode of “Jay Leno`s Garage”, one of the most honest shows about cars around. Being the owner of the first model in US, the American TV personality explains why he thinks the car is one of the best he has ever driven.  

Leno was the first person in US to buy the new breath-taking McLaren so of course everybody waited for his review. Well, here it is. The car was delivered in a bit sooner so the television star had enough time to get a real feel of it. Invited on the show is McLaren Automotive CEO, Mike Flewitt, who shared his thoughts on what makes the P1 such a great car.

"We wanted to build the best driver`s car on a road track. And we used technology to achieve that," Flewitt explained.

How amazing is it to have an actual CEO on Jay Leno's show. We still remember when he first tested the MP4-12C three years ago and had to fly over to Woking in England for the first drive. Now, the popularity of the show means McLaren is the one jumping through hoops.

The show started with McLaren CEO visiting Jay Leno`s garage. Sitting next to his MP4-12C, SLR McLaren and F1, they discussed a couple of details about the ground-braking engineering that lead to the making of the car, after which they go for a ride.  

The American host said he enjoyed driving the car so much that he ran for almost 1000 miles in the first five days since the car was delivered to him.

"We designed this car for drivers that enjoy running it on the streets. It`s not like a work of art to be kept in the garage," Flewitt backed him up. 

Because there are so many hypercars coming out this year, we`ll remind you a couple of figures that best describe the P1: mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine and an electric motor that give a combined output of 916PS (903 bhp). The beast is considered to be the long-awaited successor to the McLaren F1, utilizing hybrid power and Formula 1 technology.
