2015 Scion FR-S and tC Pricing and Specs Are Here

What goes along with the hot summer days better than a new coupe? Probably a drop top one, but Scion says you’ll be fine with its new 2014 FR-S and tC models as well. They both come with some new features made to increase driving pleasure.

Starting off with the best one in the lineup, the 2015 Scion FR-S follows the same mechanical upgrades received by the Toyota GT 86, wearing new stiffer suspension mounts at the front and retuned rear shock absorbers which are said to further decrease body roll and make the whole car feel more communicative.

Stylistic changes haven’t been forgotten, so the refreshed FR-S comes with a shark-fin antenna, larger exhaust tips, carbon fiber-like interior plastic trimmings, automatic headlamps and a new key fob.

The Argento body finish has been replaced by Steel while the Whiteout one got ditched in favor of a new Halo pearl shade.

Pricing for the 2015 Scion FR-S starts at $24,900 for the standard six-speed manual version, going up to $26,000 for the six-speed automatic transmission one, both prices being $355 shorter than the previous models.

The smaller front-wheel-drive 2015 Scion tC also received some goodies, but unfortunately they are resumed to some interior and visual changes. You now get steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for the automatic version with Dynamic Rev Management and two new colors: Classic Silver has been replaced by Cosmic Gray and Super White by Blizzard Pearl.

The 2015 Scion tC will now start at $19,210 for the six-speed manual and $20,360 for the six-speed automatic transmission version. Which means the first one is $755 cheaper and the latter is $605 down from last year.

2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe Pricing Starts At $38,990 [Photo Gallery]

The updated two-door luxury coupe from Caddy will go on sale in the United States at the end of this summer, holding an entry price of $38,990 including the $995 destination fee, which is $6,000 more than the ATS sedan.

Naturally, there are a few differences between the ATS sedan and coupe, but both sport the same performance traits. Riding on the same 109.3-inch wheelbase as its four-door brother, the revised Coupe has 0.8 inches of extra bodywork length and a slightly lower ride height than the sedan.

Due to its wider front and rear tracks and lower roofline, slightly different doors, rear fenders and trunk lid, along with a specific front fascia and standard 18-inch wheels, the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is pretty in a form follows function kind of way.

“All of the surface development unique to the ATS Coupe was done with aerodynamics in mind,” declared David Masch, ATS chief engineer. “We are able to achieve lift and downforce requirements to insure, at top speed, we retain handling without having to add a rear spoiler.”

Offering either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive platforms, the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe will be offered at launch with a choice of two engines. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot churns out 272 horsepower, with torque curve revised to offer 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) from as low as 3,000 rpm. Customers can couple the powerplant to a six-speed manual or a six-speed auto.

As for the 3.6-liter V6 mill, 321 horsepower and 275 lb-ft (373 Nm) of torque are at hand thanks to technical solutions such as direct injection and dual overhead cams with continuously variable valve timing. As opposed to the 2.0-liter model, the V6 comes only with the Hydra-Matic 6L45 six-speed automatic transmission with tap-shift control.

Inside, the sedan’s driver-focused cabin carries over to the Coupe, featuring handcrafted cut-and-sewn upholstered interior combinations, decorative stitching and authentic materials, including leather, aluminum, carbon fiber and wood, intended to enhance the emotional connection to the driving experience.

The 2015 Cadillac CTS Coupe may also be equipped with OnStar 4G LTE Internet connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones, a text-to-voice feature that converts incoming texts to spoken messages played over the Bose audio system, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a 5.7-inch three-window instrument panel cluster display and a head-up display.

2015 Volkswagen Golf – US Pricing Announced

University professors and Whole Foods addicts rejoice – Volkswagen has just announced US pricing for the brand new 2015 Golf, a German-designed hatchback that's poised to go on sale this August.

The new compact car doesn't inspire through its design, but it's based on the same MQB platform as the new Audi A3 and comes with two new engines, both turbocharged.

The base sticker for the 2015 Golf is $17,995, not including the $820, and gets you a special Golf Launch Edition, which is only available as a 3-door with air conditioning, power windows / locks, Bluetooth connectivity and an infotainment system with a 5.8-inch touchscreen display all being standard. The base Ford Focus is not only cheaper at $16,810, but also has more doors.

Most forks will askew the entry-level car and go for the more practical Golf S for $18,995. The extra money will add leather seats, a leather steering wheel and 16-inch alloys as opposed to steelies. This is also where the optional DSG gearbox starts being available as a $1,100.

There's also a Golf S model that's a bit nicer. The Golf S with Sunroof, which is only available as a four-door model, starts at $20,995 with the manual transmission and is available with the six-speed automatic for $22,095. You'll have to get this Golf if you want Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime runners, which change the front end look of the car. They'll cost you an extra $995 as part of the "Lighting Package".

The mid-grade Golf SE sounds like a really nice compact car, but the $24,495 asking price is in Golf GTI territory. It does, however, come standard with DSG, a 5-door body, 17-inch alloys and a lot of tech included in the cold weather package (heatable front seats and heated front washer nozzles; rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers, automatic headlights, front fog lights, a rearview camera, and the exclusive Fender Premium Audio System.)

Finally, there's the 2015 Golf SEL, the most expensive trim level with a gasoline engine at $26,995. Honda Accord money gets "sport comfort" seats, automatic climate control and keyless entry with a push button ignition, all nicely finished features.

The nice thing about this new Golf is that no matter what spec you chose, they give you a nice 1.8-liter turbo engine. Gone is the noisy old 2.5-liter and fuel economy should be much better for it. All but a few of the major compacts in America come with non-turbo engines that have less power and torque. The Ford Focus, for example, has a 2-liter with only 160 hp, while the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla both get 1.8-liter 4-bangers with about 140 hp.

If you're really concerned about economy, the 2015 Golf is available as a TDI Clean Diesel as well. Three more trim levels that mirror the ones we just mentioned are available here, all equipped with the same 2.0 TDI rated at 150 hp (111 kW) and 236 lb-ft (319 Nm) of torque. Prices start with at $21,995 for the Golf TDI S and run up to $27,995 for the Golf TDI SEL.
